While we were in Ketchikan the salmon runs were happening. It is amazing to see, there are literally thousands of fish trying to go up the same stream. During the low tides they get trapped... there isn't enough water in the streams for them to continue up. So we would go down during low tide and snag. You don't fish with bait, just a really big hook... Cast out and pull in as hard as you can snagging the fish where ever the hook lands. These fish are 15-40lbs so when you snag one they take you for a ride.
